Pharm-Olam was approached to recruit 80 patients with hospital acquired pneumonia after poor performance from their initial CRO with sites in Russia. Pharm-Olam quickly set up additional sites in Russia and new sites in Ukraine, Georgia, and Belarus.

Although a few patients behind target, the sponsor was impressed with our results and extended the target to 145 patients. Pharm-Olam exceeded their expectations by recruiting at total of 197 patients in 21 months. The sponsor’s drug later received NDA approval.

Cellulitis (Rescue)

This Phase IV comparator study for cellulitis had poor recruitment with another CRO that started the study in November using 12 sites in the US. Three months later POI was approached to help with the speed of recruitment. POI recommended 4 sites in Serbia and was able to exceed the sponsor’s initial target of 36 patients by recruiting 48 patients in 14 weeks. POI recruited over half of the 80 required patients with one-third of the sites in less time.
